The Philippine government has earmarked nearly PHP 10 billion to roll out e-governance systems. The government plans to fast track its e-government initiatives to eliminate corruption and promote openness, the Malaya Business Insight reports. For starters, the government will invest around PHP 9 billion in the Digital Empowerment Fund between 2013 and 2016 and the government also spends around PHP 1 billion per year on e-government services. Priorities include a single authoritative registry for citizens and government agencies, a national payroll system, and a government integrated financial management system.
