President Park Geun-hye says her so-called creative economy will be more successful and sustainable when it is led by the private sector.

She made the remarks after being briefed by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Korea Communications Commission Monday.

President Park added that the governments, both central and local, and the private sector should join hands for the sake of bigger accomplishments.

In addition, President Park said strengthening the nation's capacity in science and technology is crucial.

The President said bold deregulation should precede the fostering of the creative economic landscape, and she called on officials to review the existing regulations.

She added the public finds cultural contents as the most tangible fruits of creative economy and added they can mark notable achievements when combined with the popularity of the Korean Wave.
