This IDC study presents an update on the tablet market in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ, along with market sizing data from 1Q12 to 1Q13, as well as forecast data for the 2013-2017. Breakdowns by vendor, country, operating system, connectivity, and screen size are also included to provide greater insight into APEJ dynamics.
"Android made significant inroads in 2012 as it surpassed iOS as the number 1 tablet operating system, largely due to increased demand for low-cost smaller tablets in emerging markets. While Apple's iOS is expected to retain its second position comfortably throughout the forecast period of 2013 to 2017, its market share is expected to face further pressure from Android and Windows as more vendors are expected to enter the tablet space and mobile phones and PC manufacturers look to diversify their product lines," says Ryan Lai, associate market analyst, Client Devices, Domain Research Group, IDC Asia/Pacific.
