The Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held a “round table” to review international experience and national approaches in the field of governance and strategic planning. The meeting was held within the framework of the joint project of UNDP and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan “Parliamentary Development Support Programme”, Turkmenistan.ru reported.

Particular attention was paid to the use of modern techniques in development of strategic plans, management and planning, and implementation of the priority areas of development of the regions of Turkmenistan.

As part of this project, the round table participants also discussed issues relating to improving the performance of local authorities and self-governance bodies on the socio-economic development of the regions, districts and cities.
