Malaysia’s third largest state, Pahang, is to have its first green data centre, to serve all the government agencies of the state.
State secretary, Datuk Seri Muhammad Safian Ismail, said, “The setting up of the data centre in the next two months would help realise the state government’s plan to implement the ICT strategic plan that includes the digital transformation of the public sector.”
“Once it is ready, all state government agencies’ ICT infrastructure will be relocated to the data centre in stages”, he added.
He emphasised the importance of government officials building their ICT knowledge to help them work efficiently and effectively.
“To be more competitive, we must move forward and equip ourselves with the latest knowledge. It will help us expedite the ICT transformation process and make Pahang and ECER a high-income economic powerhouse by 2020”, the State secretary remarked.
In the future, the data centre will also cater to multinational countries in Malaysia and abroad.
