More than 90 percent of Chinese people are proud of their country, showing a strong sense of national identity, according to an annual report issued Friday by a leading think tank.

Also, 85.42 percent of respondents support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, according to a survey completed by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

The survey was based on responses from 6,159 people through random samples in 10 provincial regions across the Chinese mainland.

Meanwhile, 68.64 percent feel "it's urgent for China to reform its political structure."

The report showed that Chinese men have a higher level of political participation than that of females.

No major difference was found in political participation between ethnic minorities and Han Chinese, according to the report.

It also found that political participation is not relative to income and educational backgrounds rather than professions and ages.

Medical care, education and social insurance were ranked the top three in terms of public service satisfaction, says the report, while culture and sports and public service for the disabled were ranked the bottom two among ten service items surveyed.
