Kyrgyzstan's GDP Ups by 8 Percent

Kyrgyzstan's GDP increased by 8 percent in January-February to 37.3 billion soms (100 soms = $2.0931) compared to 11 percent decrease in the same period of 2012, the Kyrgyz Economy Ministry reported.

 

"The considerable GDP growth at the beginning of the year was caused by the low base effect in the same period of 2012, and restoring the production level in some spheres of industry," the Ministry said.

 

According to the Ministry, all sectors of the economy contributed into the economic growth.

 

In January - February 2013 the Kyrgyz industrial enterprises increased production by 21.8 percent to 21.8 billion soms compared to a 30.5 percent decrease in the same period of 2012.

 

Manufacturing industry increased production by 32.9 percent to 15.6 billion soms compared to the same period of 2012.

 

Mining industry's output decreased by 2.7 percent to 534.2 million soms in the reporting period mainly due to a decline in coal, lignite, peat, crude oil natural gas production and rendering the services in these areas.

 

The agricultural production increased by 1.4 percent to 11.4 billion soms.
