Finance Minister Bahk Jae-wan says stronger international policy cooperation is a must in order to use the global economic crisis as an opportunity to leap forward.
Bahk made the remark during his keynote speech at the IMF-World Bank meeting in Tokyo on Friday.
He said countries should move past their self-centered attitudes in order to achieve a sustainable global economy and come up with policy responses through close cooperation.
Meanwhile, Bahk said European countries should move towards fiscal consolidation through overall structural reform backed by political leadership.
In addition, he said developing nations should look for new growth engines, while developed countries expand support for the emerging economies and pass on development experience in infrastructure and education.
