Philippine President Benigno Aquino III regained his record-high public approval and trust ratings in September, according to the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia Inc.

Pulse Asia President Ronald Holmes said in Aquino's approval and trust ratings in September "nearly approximate" his record- high ratings in October 2010 when he obtained 79-percent public approval and a trust rating of 80 percent.

"Almost eight in ten Filipinos approve of President Aquino's performance in the past three months and express trust in him," Holmes said in a statement.

Pulse's survey showed Aquino's approval rating increased by 11 percentage points in September, or to 78 percent from 67 percent in May. Aquino's rust rating increased to 78 percent in September, or 13 percentage points higher than May's.

In terms of its performance on 12 national issues, the national administration obtained majority approval ratings on half of them and improved ratings on nearly all issues in September compared to May.

Holmes said that majority of Filipinos approve of the administration's efforts to fight criminality, stamp out government corruption, enforce the law equally on all Filipinos, improve the national peace situation, create more jobs and increase wages.

Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the high trust and approval ratings "affirm the Filipino people's belief and confidence in the President, his leadership, and his administration's relentless pursuit of reform."

The Pulse Asia survey was conducted from August 31 to September 7, 2012, among 1,200 representative adults.
