The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has recently launched a mobile application called “My Culture” which allows users to view information on cultural presentations, venue partnership scheme events, film programmes and special exhibitions organised by museums and other cultural venues in Hong Kong.
According to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the app aims to disseminate brief programme information to users in a user-friendly manner. By leveraging on mobile platforms, users can now view information on cultural events anytime anywhere.
Apart from being able to browse information on current events, the app also features a built-in mapping feature that allows users to view a list of cultural venues nearest to their location; a trivia section to give users quirky and helpful information about the cultural events they are attending and a Social Networking sharing function for users to update their Facebook and Twitter.
Furthermore, the app also enables users to avoid long queues in cultural venues by connecting to the URBTIX online ticketing system or telephone ticketing system to purchase tickets.
The Department advised that while the information available in the app will be updated four times a day, users are still encouraged to view the Department’s website to be informed about latest updates regarding programme cancellation and postponement due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
The iPhone and Android versions of the “My Culture” app are available in English, and in traditional and simplified Chinese.
The app is available on iOS and Android platforms for free download.
