A domestic court has ruled that both Samsung Electronics and Apple infringed on each other’s patents.
The Seoul Central District Court on Friday ruled that Apple infringed on two of Samsung’s patents. The court ordered Apple to pay 20 million won for each infringement and stop selling and scrap the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad1 and iPad2.
Samsung's infringed technologies include one that reduces power used for data transmission and another one relating to signal transmission.
Meanwhile, the court ruled that Samsung also violated Apple’s patent relating to the “bounce-back” function, which notifies users they are at the end of an electronic document by bouncing it back. Samsung was fined 25 million won and ordered to stop selling and scrap the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab products.
However, the court rejected Apple’s claim that Samsung infringed on its design patent related to the rounded corners of its phones. The court also turned down Apple’s infringement claim on the slide unlock technology.
