SINGAPORE: About 100 jobs are expected to be created over the next five years with the launch of a new floral and hamper social enterprise. Most of the jobs are likely to go to those with mental disabilities. The enterprise is run by Bizlink Centre - which helps disabled people find employment. It has a partnership with the Institute of Mental Health, which regularly refers suitable people for the centre's other social enterprises. For this new project, Bizlink has collaborated with industry players like Katong Flower Shop to train the beneficiaries in skills like flower arrangement, and putting together hampers. Since June this year, four people have already received training. The project was launched by Minister of State in the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports Halimah Yacob. It's supported by the MCYS Comcare Enterprise Fund.
