A third of South Korean citizens officially categorized as middle class by income perceive themselves as being in the low-income bracket.
A report from the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs said 32 percent of the middle class see themselves as part of the low-income class.
The middle class is conformed of those whose incomes are in the 50 to 150 percent range of society’s median income.
The report also showed 82 percent of the high-income class perceive themselves as part of the middle class while 29 percent of the low-income class believe they belong to the middle class.
Meanwhile, 64.6 percent of of the middle class said they are not receiving enough subsidiaries compared to their tax payments, while 8.7 percent said they are.
