SINGAPORE: More job seekers have found work through the career centres at the five Community Development Councils (CDCs).
From April to June this year, some 3,300 job seekers found employment.
That is a 23 per cent increase, compared to the same period last year.
The CDCs said this reflects strong hiring activities by employers.
But they cautioned that the pace of hiring may slow down in the coming months as the global economic outlook remains uncertain.
As for social assistance, the five CDCs received some 15,000 applications from April to June this year.
It is a nearly six per cent increase compared to the same quarter last year.
The CDCs said the increase can be attributed to an increase in the number of interim financial assistance applications.
Higher inflation and cost of living could also have contributed the increase.
