State-owned Telecom Cambodia ( TC) and Vietnam Telecom International (VTI) on Friday jointly launched Super Highway Telecom Network in order to improve Internet and telecom services in Cambodia and to meet customer's demands, said a joint press release.

The 260-kilometer super highway link connects VTI's POP (Point of Presence) in Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City and is expandable to Asian, Europe and North American countries through international submarine cable systems such as SMW3, AAG... and cross-border land cable connections to China and Laos, said the press release.

The link can serve the consistent connection with high redundancy and restorable capacity.

It said that with initial capacity design of 10Gbps and future upgrade plan, this super highway connection will become the life- line for transmitting the traffic: voice, video, data, and Internet and all other international telecommunication services to the world.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Cambodia's Minister of Posts and Telecommunication So Khun said that the link is also strategically important to provide customers, not only in Cambodia but also in Thailand and Myanmar, with high-speed connection, high quality and cost-effective services such as International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC), International Private Leased Circuit Transit (IPLC Transit), IP Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) and IP Transit.

"Moreover, the cooperation between TC and VTI will help to meet customer's demands with flexible service packages, high quality services and competitive prices," he said.

He said the link will improve and boost the Internet and telecom service usage in Cambodia and it will be a chance for both VTI and TC to increase number of customers, expand business activities and generate more revenue.
