According to Tan Sri Ismail Omar, Inspector-General of Police, the Facebook page was launched in order to establish a good medium of communication between law enforcers and citizens.
In addition, it has also been used by the state police to publicise information concerning public safety matters, and as a medium where they can receive feedback and reports from the public concerning crime occurrences in their respective communities.
The Selangor crime index rate has been reduced by 8.4 per cent from January to September this year, as compared to 2010.
Ismail further added that the Selangor police is confident in achieving the 5% target of index crime reduction by the end of the month.
