JAKARTA: The Public Housing Ministry has demanded that all administrations pay more attention to the housing needs of civil servants, given that 1.3 million civil servants have yet to be allocated with accommodation.
“There is adequate land at affordable prices,” Public Housing Minister Suharso Monoarfa said on Wednesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He added that administrations could anticipate the growth in housing needs for both civil servants and non-civil servants by adopting land-banking methods.
Such methods ensure that the administration has ready land to construct infrastructure and housing for civil servants.
“The local administration needs to build good and affordable houses for civil servants. Besides good buildings, it needs to set aside large areas of land so it can be developed at a future time,” Suharso said.
