The Government of Brunei recently signed an agreement to develop the Brunei Healthcare Information System (Bru-HIMS), a nationwide project to digitise patient care documents and provide electronic medical records.
Technology partners, iSoft and Ishajaya Technology, have been commissioned to build the framework of the digital healthcare system, the hospital information solution that will provide access to patient data, identity management, process automation for administrative and clinical departments, workflow design and resource scheduling.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Health, “We are investing in a fully digital, nationwide hospital information system to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivered to Brunei’s population of 400,000. Soon, every patient in Brunei will have a single electronic health record that is accessible from any government hospital, clinic or healthcare centre. This is an important step in assuring the health of our citizens into the future.”
“Bru-HIMS will provide a single electronic record for every patient - a vital step in increasing the safety, quality and cost-effectiveness of health care delivery.”
