Member of the Kyrgyz Parliament from Ar-Namys faction offers toughing responsibility of public officers for double citizenship, as Dastan Bekeshev told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, facts about double citizenship of some high ranking officials appear more often. “Authorities turned a blind eye to this fact, despite gross violation of State Service Law and public officer has no right to hold office if he has citizenship of another country. One of the examples is the recent scandal with Head of Customs Service Kamchybek Kulmatov, ex-mayor of Jalal-Abad town Maksatbek Zhenbekov and others,” said Dastan Bekeshev.
In order to avoid such excesses in future, he suggested amending the Criminal Code and imposing fine, KGS 1 million and more depending on the post, on the guilty person. Court will define amount of the fine. A person, who will suppress fact about double citizenship, will hold responsibility,” added Dastan Bekeshev.
The deputy intends to present the amendment to the Parliament in September 2011.
