Advisor to the Finance Ministry Keshav Acharya Wednesday revealed that the finance ministry was preparing an outlay of about Rs. 381 billion budget for the next fiscal year.
Speaking at the Reporters Club in Kathmandu, Acharya said the ministry was preparing the budget based on the advice given by the National Planning Commission (NPC).
Acharya also hinted that this year's budget might be slightly bigger than the amount suggested by the NPC although there was demand for over Rs. 400 billion.
He further said the budget would mainly prioritise the hydropower development and agriculture sector to end the power crisis facing by the country and to create jobs.
He also claimed that the budget will introduce the new policy to end the liquidity crisis in the banking sector.
Although he hinted an increase in the salary of government employees, but did not give any clear figure.
Speaking at the same programme, economists Bishwambhar Pyakurel and Bhola Chalise stressed that without political consensus the budget would not address the problems existing in different sectors.
They also advised the ministry not to prepare an ambition and over-sized budget.
