Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong held a Facebook chat session and received over 5,000 questions from various citizens.
The hour long chat session enabled citizens to raise concerns and queries on topics such as public transport, costs of living and housing, letting Singaporeans interact directly with the Prime Minister.
Some of the highlights of the session is when the Prime Minister asked for suggestions on how to make Singapore a better place- to which a citizen answered, “The government be gracious and act on mistakes immediately”.
In answering questions regarding the costs and standards of living, PM Lee said, “We want better standards of living but would like stable costs too.”
When the chat ended by 9pm, the Prime Minister, happy with the overwhelming response of Singaporeans, managed to give about 50 responses to the inquiries.
While chatting, PM Lee was accompanied by his wife Ho Ching, YP chairman Teo Ser Luck and Minister for Information, Communication and the Arts Lui Tuck Yew.
The Prime Minister ended the chat with a comment that encouraging citizens to cherish Singapore and improve it and other questions which merit a response will get a reply at a later date, via Facebook.
