NEW DELHI -(Dow Jones)- India plans for the first time to issue periodic data on new jobs created in the economy, a senior government official said Monday.
If India provides employment indicators frequently, just as it does with inflation on a weekly basis, the government's policy stance might actually change, the official told Dow Jones Newswires, declining to be named.
The government is conducting initial surveys to construct the structure of employment data, but is still sometime away from firming up the process and frequency of release of such data, the official added.
India has a medium-term aim to increase employment 2.5% annually to help sustain a near 9% economic growth.
