Fiji's Labour Minister has confirmed a 10 per cent pay increase in minimum wages for workers in the garment industry.
Filipe Bole told the Fiji Times that this progressive position by garment owners is an indication of their corporate social responsibility to both the workers and the nation as a whole.
The Minister has called for all employers to be fair and just in distributing their profits and productivity gains, not only to their shareholders but also to their employees.
Mr Bole also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the former ambassador to China, Sir James Ah Koy, in the latest consultations with garment owners.
