MALE, December 25 (HNS) – President Mohamed Nasheed Thursday appointed Sheikh Hussein Rasheed Ahmed as Minister of State for Islamic Affairs. Rasheed had previously been serving as Minister of State for Home Affairs. The appointment comes hours after Sheikh Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed resigned from the post of State Islamic Minister after he was reportedly summoned to Home Ministry, accusing him of planning the protest held outside the President’s Office Thursday morning by parents of Arabiyya School.
