The government has allocated Rs 230 million for the promotion of Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011, which aims to bring 1 million tourists in the country.
The said amount will be mobilised for advertising the campaign in the international arena and making necessary preparations inside the country.
Some 60 percent of the total budget i.e Rs 130.80 million will be used for international promotion of the mega campaign.
Similarly, Rs 90.20 million (40 percent of the total budget) will be leveraged for enhancing tourism capacity, formulating various tourism packages and for other internal programmes.
According to the National Program Coordination Committee of the NTY 2011, tourism ministers of 22 Asian countries will inaugurate the mega campaign.
The promotional modus operandi will be chiefly gravitated towards attracting more outbound tourists from neighbouring countries like India and China.
The government has set a target to bring 250 thousand tourists from India and 100 thousand from China during 2011.
