ASEAN Continues Its HPAI-Control and Eradication Efforts |

To continue its coordinative efforts in the prevention, control and eradication of avian influenza in the region, the ASEAN HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) Taskforce will hold its 10th Meeting on 22 September 2010 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. The Meeting aims to consolidate the different areas and cooperation initiatives among the ASEAN Member States in the campaign against HPAI. The agreements and recommendations generated from this Meeting, furthermore, will be used to guide the Member States in the implementation of their national programmes. Participants will include the respective National Focal Points on HPAI and representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat.
The Meeting will be held back-to-back with the conclusion workshop of the ASEAN-ADB Project on Strengthening Regional Coordination in the Control and Eradication of HPAI in ASEAN on 20-21 September 2010. The workshop is to highlight the Project’s accomplishments during the second phase of its implementation (September 2009 - August 2010). The initial launching of advocacy and knowledge materials that were developed during the course of the Project will also take place during the workshop.
