The government plans to set aside some 100 billion yen to deal with heavy rain and other natural disasters outside big cities as a pillar of its additional economy-boosting measures, government sources said Wednesday.
The expenditure will likely include about 70 billion yen for rebuilding or rehabilitating roads, rivers, ports and harbors, as well as around 25 billion yen for forest preservation projects, the sources said.
The additional stimulus measures, to be adopted by the Cabinet on Friday, will be crafted through the use of around 920 billion yen in reserve funds for the national budget for fiscal 2010 ending next March 31.
