The President's Challenge 2010 was launched on Saturday and the aim is to raise S$8 million this year.
Launching it at the People's Association headquarters, President S R Nathan expressed his appreciation to previous donors who'd helped reach last year's benchmark, despite the downturn.
This year, the People's Association got the ball rolling by presenting a cheque of S$250,000 to the President.
The PA has pledged to raise the amount for beneficiaries through the efforts of its grassroots organisations and Community Development Councils.
