The first action of Australia's new Prime Minister has been to kill off the government's advertising campaign on the mining super profits tax.
Federal Labor's caucus endorsed Julia Gillard this morning when Kevin Rudd did not contest the leadership.
"I'm well aware that I am the first woman to serve in this role can I say to you I didn't set out to crash my head on any glass ceilings I set out to keep my feet on the floor."
Ms Gillard's moved quickly to defuse the row with the mining industry, cancelling the taxpayer funded mining ads.
"And in return for this I ask the mining industry to cease their advertising campaign as a sign of good faith."
Ms Gillard says she moved against Kevin Rudd because she thought a good government was losing its way, but she says she takes her fair share of responsibility for any errors.
