Finance Minister Yoon Jeung-hyun says the government will maintain its expansionary monetary policy for a while given the economic uncertainties in Europe.
Yoon explained that the global financial market is still unstable due to the European debt crisis and factors contributing to rising prices in global raw materials.
He added the ministry will do its best to secure economic recovery and boost employment.
Experts say Yoon's latest remark reflects the government's stance that it is too early for a hike in the nation's key interest rate.
