Jakarta’s lack of clean water is getting even worse with only around 33 percent of its residents enjoying the clean water supply.
Private tap water operator PT Aetra Air Jakarta corporate secretary Yosua L. Tobing said Thursday that the company still worked on its water treatment installation in Buaran and Pulogadung, East Jakarta, while supply from Jatiluhur Dam had been reduced by 40 percent recently.
“The maintenance of our water treatment installation is scheduled to finish in the next two days,” said Yosua as quoted by kompas.com.
Responding to the clean water shortage, Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said that he had ordered tap water operator PT Palyja and PT Aetra to supply clean water through the deployment of 21 and 13 of water tank trucks respectively to residents.
