In recognition of his outstanding achievements to commend his best performance and commitment to excellence in the ICT field in Oman, Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of the Information Technology Authority, was honored as the 10th Middle East CEO of the Year for ICT and Knowledge Development CEO Excellence Award, on Thursday 11 April, 2013.
The prestigious ceremony organized by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute and held at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, UAE, coincided with the Tenth International Conference for the Executive Leadership, which was graced by the presence of prominent figures from regional business and government organizations, the armed forces, as well as several VIPs.
Within the Institute keenness to develop the role of leaders and executives, the Middle East CEO of the Year Award seeks to promote the spirit of competition among organizations to highlight the concept of model leadership and encourage the culture of leadership excellence and modern management systems in government and business organizations.
Leaders and Executives from the public and private institutions compete annually to win the awards, which are granted according to regional and international standards with input from regional and international experts and specialists. During past years, a number of notable dignitaries at the international level were honored, such as Al Gore, U.S. Vice President; Dominique de Villepin; the French Prime Minister; and Igor Ivanov, the Russian National Security Consultant; among other international leaders.
The "ICT CEO Excellence Award" received by Dr. Salim recognizes the distinct achievements of leaders who have exhibited significant advocacy, support and promotion of the use of ICT in education at, national, regional and international levels. The Award recognizes the winner’s clear vision and strong leadership competence in bringing new technology, concepts or business models that have made effective use of ICTs in the educational or knowledge systems regionally and globally.
