MUSCAT — Dr Ali bin Masoud al Suaniady, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Board Chairman of Information Technology Authority, yesterday confirmed an electronic linkage among the ministries of commerce and industry, manpower and regional municipalities and water resources and the Muscat Municipality. The move is based on directives from the Council of Ministers regarding e-government.
Speaking to reporters following the launch of the second package of One-Station e-Trade Services at Comex exhibition being held at Oman International Exhibition Centre, the minister said that at least two countries are vying to acquire the tender for electronic transformation of services which he expects to be floated during the coming two months.
The minister said the selected firm will need around one year to complete the project as a single entity explaining that the project will begin at the Ministry of Manpower followed by the Muscat Municipality and then the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.
