According to Dr. Khalid Abdul Rahman Al-Haidan, Director of the GIS Directorate of the Central Informatics Organisation, the “Bahrain e-Atlas” contains special information related to addresses, roads, area names and blocks with the latest satellite images which thus makes location-definition easier as it allows users to seamlessly access various Point of Interests.
He added that e-Atlas is part of a series of achievements, outputs and services provided by the CIO in this field. It comes within the CIO and is provided through the management of GIS Directorate services such as Bahrain locator.
The “Bahrain e-Atlas” also comes in the context of continuous development as it keeps up with the latest technology to serve the geographic information sector in the Kingdom such as providing services which will enable users to access the e-Atlas via their mobile phones.
“The GIS Directorate is keen to implement projects that positively reflect on the country’s development and serving the citizens. The Directorate, has managed, in such short period of time, to form a geographic database integrated at the Kingdom’s level which contains important relevant data on roads, addresses, satellite images, and other Point of Interests”.
“We hope that the e-Atlas would have a positive reflection to citizens, tourists, government, and non-government institutions. This new e-Atlas will be an addition and a vitality for public services and will have a positive impact in public interest as well,” Dr. Al-Haidan said.
