MUSCAT: The design of the website on His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, www.oman-qaboos.net, last week won the grand finale of the Pan Arab Web Awards (PAWA) competition, a Press note stated.
The wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan, his achievements in the Sultanate during the past four decades, and his supportive role for other nations at both regional and global levels are all highlighted in this award-winning website, together with excerpts from some of His Majesty’s major speeches.
A variety of selected photographs illustrate His Majesty’s life, including his education and personal interests, while a number of national songs bring alive the culture and traditions of the Sultanate.
The designer of the website, Hamoud Mohd Al Azri, received the Pan Arab Award for First Prize in the VIP category for this website in the grand finale held in The InterContinental Phoenicia, Beirut.
The prize was given in the presence of Mohammed bin Khalil bin Saleh Al Jazmi, Sultanate’s ambassador to Lebanon, and Dr Salim bin Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, chief executive of the Information Technology Authority as well as many important political figures in Lebanon and the Arab world, the Press note added.
“Winning this regional award has been a moment to cherish in my life and I wish to dedicate this award also to His Majesty the Sultan,” said the proud winner of the award.
Talking on the achievement, Hamoud Al Azri said, “There is no doubt that the translation of the site into 14 universal languages has had a big role in winning the award, which was welcomed by the committee selecting the award winners.
This website provides the opportunity for large number of people around the world to identify the personality of His Majesty, and his achievements in the Sultanate during the
past four decades.”
The website was a winner among over 600 websites that entered this year’s competition from among the Middle East countries.
Oman Qaboos won the first prize, followed by the site on The Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.
The third prize was shared between the websites of Sheikha Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan and the official website of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
