Currently the project has a combination of railway and road networks that link the port of Dar es salaam to land locked countries of Burundi, Uganda, and eastern part of the DR Congo.
The initiatives that have given priority include construction of railway that links Dar es salaam to Isaka, Keza, Kigali, Gitega and Musongati in Rwanda. The railway spans 1682 Kms.
There will also be port improvement at Kigoma (Tanzania) and Bujumbura on Lake Tanganyika.
The Minister of Transport Dr. Harisson Mwakyembe, among others, said this at the WEF, detailing progress of the project.
