This outcome focuses on four key outputs which require the department to increase the number of households with access to quality accommodation, basic services, improved access to social services and economic opportunities, increased access to private finance foe housing development and efficient utilisation of land for human settlements development.
The awards were initiated by the Minister and MECs in 2006. The province will be participating in 11 of the 14 categories, which include amongst others, Best Priority, Rural, Women Contractor, Youth Contractor and Informal Settlements Upgrading Projects in the 2013/14 financial year.
All the provincial winners will face their counterparts from other provinces at the national awards ceremony scheduled for August in Gauteng. In last year’s campaign, the province triumphed in the Best Special or Priority Project (Klarinet at eMalahleni) and Best Accredited Municipality (Steve Tshwete Local Municipality).
