South Africa: Innovation Dinner August 2014 Sponsors Revealed

From its beginnings as a small trading company, Samsung has evolved into a world-class corporation. From its innovations in consumer electronics to developments in biopharmaceuticals, Samsung shares impactful experiences each day with people around the globe. Samsung strives to enhance the lives of people everywhere and bring positive change to the world around us.
This month’s Innovation Dinner will be held at the DaVinci Hotel and Suite, Sandton, South Africa on 27 August 2014. The theme chosen for the Innovation Dinner is “Enterprise Mobility: The Power of Big Data & Mobility”.
Mobility and Big Data, however, when combined can provide an opportunity to not only offer users convenience and utility, but to actually drive real behaviour change. These two disruptive trends are intertwined, as the unique benefits of mobile – ubiquity, immediacy and relevance – are magnified by big data, and the societal impact of big data is tied to the increasingly central mobile device. And while the need for mobile has been proven across various industries, somewhere between seventy and ninety percent of mobile apps are abandoned within the first two months after being downloaded because they are not connected to data and analytics that make them impactful and engaging.
“I thought the Innovation Dinner was really great as well as extremely well attended. It is great to see so many people who are clearly thinking about the cloud and thinking about its issues. The Innovation Dinner series also gave us all the opportunity to exchange views, facts, and opinions, on how we can make the journey to the cloud a successful one.”
Dave Messett, European Product Marketing Manager, Kaspersky Lab
“What I found meaningful at the Innovation Dinner was the practical answers to this whole mysterious thing known as cloud. You hear a lot of people say that cloud is not relevant for Africa; however, look at the turnout here. This shows that there is a lot of interest and we have a lot of great companies actually doing cloud. Well done, well done.”
Patrick Shields, Chief Technology Officer for Software AG
“I am very happy with the sheer amount of networking that goes on at the Innovation Dinner series. I am thoroughly looking forward to the end of the year session and future engagements with IT News Africa.”
Mark McCallum, Chief Technology Officer, Director and Head of Global Services, Orange Business Services Africa.
The Innovation Dinner Series, an event that takes place every two months and provides a platform for networking amongst Africa’s ICT professionals, entrepreneurs and business people.
IT News Africa publisher, Abby Wakama, is pleased with the overwhelming support the Innovation Dinner has received from the ICT industry over the years. “The Innovation Dinner series had modest beginnings, but the support and encouragement we have received from key players in the industry has made it a must-attend for ICT executives.”
Previous sponsors of ITNews Africa’s Innovation Dinners include HP, Ericsson, IBM, and RICOH amongst others.
