Dar Teknohama Business Incubator (DBTi) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Silicon Valley Black chamber of Commerce with the aim of creating collaboration between the two organizations.
According to DTBi CEO Eng George Mulamula, the MoU will facilitate exchange programmes and boost business and entrepreneurship and overall job creation.
"This cooperation is expected to contribute and strengthen the role of ICT in promoting young entrepreneurs for achieving Tanzania socio-economic transformation and sustainable development," he said after signing the MoU.
Engineer Mulamula adds that the partnership will also skill and knowledge transfer between Dar es Salaam and the Silicon Valley and hopefully cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit as the country's start-ups begin to take off.
The agreement will also see the Silicon Valley chamber of Commerce involved in working with ICT Start-ups, those with new creative, innovative ideas to assist in their growth; advocacy for an enabling environment and initiating exchange programs to foster business and entrepreneurial growth.
The partnership follows a visit to California last year by Tanzanian president Jakaya Kikwete that the Tanzanian president mobilized investors and high tech sectors to invest in the country.
