The intention by the provincial government with these offices is for tribal councils to have adequate infrastructure and be able to appropriately provide services to rural communities they serve. North West province has 56 traditional councils which are spread only in three districts namely Ngaka Modiri Molema, Bojanala and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati.
“More of such offices will be built in different traditional councils. The plans and designs for the construction of the offices for Barolong ba ga Tlou le Tau, under Kgosi Letlhogile in Ganyesa, have been completed and construction will commence in the next financial year. That will also happen in other tribal councils,” said Modise.
In the near future the new offices might witness the provision of tools of trade by government following the proposal submitted by the province which has been used as a benchmark by the National Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs to provide for the National norms and standards in an effort to improve the working conditions of traditional leaders.

South Africa: More Traditional Council Infrastructure Development The North West provincial government reaffirmed its commitment to providing improved tribal council infrastructure to enhance the operations in all tribal councils across the province The pronouncement was made by Premier Thandi Modise during her State of the Province Address in the Provincial Legislature on Friday “In this financial year the traditional council’s offices for Barokologadi ba ga Kgosi Maotwe in Pitsidisulejang Barolong ba ga Seitshiro ba ga Kgosi Moshoete in Ga-Khunoana and Barolong ba ga Makgobi ba ga Kgosi Motsewakhumo in Makgobistad were completed and handed over to traditional leaders and their communities The state-of-the-art offices will go a long way in changing the manner in which the offices have been functioning,” Premier Modise said
