Now in its fourth consecutive year, the Nedbank Winter campaign will have invested R2.3 million since 2010, which translates to close to 20,000 blankets for nearly 40,000 individuals nationwide.
“We are honoured to once again be able to make this contribution to the most vulnerable members of our society. As the green and caring bank; the Nedbank Winter campaign is one of many ways through which we demonstrate our on-going commitment to uplifting communities in which we operate,” said Kone Gugushe, Divisional Executive for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Nedbank.
In addition community development, the bank’s CSR programmes focuses on education, health, skills development and job creation, children’s welfare, arts and culture, sport development and the environment.
“We are very pleased to play a role in alleviating the plight of the aged, women and children, by providing them some relief during the winter. The effects of changing climatic patterns, and a sluggish economy unfortunately impact the lower income and elderly more severely. This is just one of various initiatives where Brimstone and its partner Nedbank strive to have a positive impact on the communities which are so close to us”, says Mustaq Brey, CEO of Brimstone and the lead-principal of the Brimstone-Mtha consortium.
Nedbank is encouraging everyone in the country to contribute towards making more people warm this winter by: SMSing “winter” to 40017 to donate R20 or by donating a minimum amount of R50 to Nedbank Savings Account: 2001120915. Use “Winter” as your reference.

In the past, the Nedbank Winter Campaign has received amazing support from Nedbank employees and partners clients and ordinary South Africans across the country. The bank hopes to make the 2013 edition an even greater success.

South Africa: Nedbank Campaign to Keep Thousands Warm Nedbank in partnership with its black business partner Brimstone Investment Corporation launched the 2013 Nedbank Winter Campaign which will benefit close to 5000 children women and senior citizens across all nine provinces in South Africa The campaign was launched at Philippi outside Cape Town where 200 blankets and food parcels worth R 50,000 were donated to the Masibambane Senior Club and Sizakuyenza Safe Home Based in Philippi the Masibambane Senior Club provides care for the aged and disabled people and counselling services and support to the local community Sizakuyenza Safe Home provides support to vulnerable women and children who are typically victims of gender-based violence and physical abuse
