Let your fingers do the walking' is the popular catch phrase associated with successful Yellowpages Kenya, a business listing website set up by the Kenya Postel Directories. Last Wednesday in Muthaiga, Nairobi, the company held an intimate celebration to mark its 20th anniversary.
"When people ask me how long I have been in Kenya, I used to say I am here on a two-year contract then I pause and add for the last 20 years. It's my standard joke," said Kenya Postel's MD Jose Saldanha during the launch before he paid tribute to all who have helped make the business a success. Orange Kenya MD Mickael Ghossein and Information minister Samuel Poghisio both applauded Saldanha on his success, with the minister acknowledging, "20 years is long time, I know, I just discovered this month that I have been married for 25 years."
Kenya Postel Directories is a joint venture between Telkom Kenya Ltd and Directel, a subsidiary of Portugal Telecoms. The company has been in operation since 1992 and has so far published 17 editions of the annual directory which is distributed free to Telkom Customers in the various regions covered.
