D1.6 Million Project Inaugurated in Sabach Sanjal

The National Assembly Member for Sabach Sanjal Constituency Honourable Ousman Bah recently inaugurated a D1.6M IT project from philanthropic organisation called Beechdale Energy Computer Suite. The project is meant for Sinchu Njaba Basic Cycle School in Sabach Sanjal in the North Bank Region. The project also involves solar energy with 4, 000 watts satellite that will serve internet connection for computers. In his inaugural speech at a ceremony held at the school grounds, Hon. Ousman Bah expressed gratitude at the gesture and described the philanthropists as true friends of The Gambia. He explained that some years ago he met them in UK through the help of The Gambia School Trust and they asked him to draw a three-year development plan, saying that this project was one of them. He revealed that there is lot of development projects in the pipeline for Sabach Sanjal, while assuring that he will continue to support the development of the country's education sector. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr Chris expressed delight at the initiative, noting that their aim is to support schools that are in need of support to effectively enhance teaching and learning of Information Technology in schools. He assured that they will continue to support the school. He urged the beneficiaries and schools in the country to continue promoting IT education at all levels. The governor of the region, Alhaji Eduwarr Seckan thanked the philanthropists for complementing government's efforts in the promotion of education in the country. The regional director of Education in Region 3, Sait Saine, said the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as part of its overall strategy by 2012 to 2015 has made IT education accessible to all schools in the country in order to contribute to the attainment of quality education. The Chief Sabach Sanjal District, Sait Gaye ; Alhagie Njie, principal of the school, and Bach Samba Cham, all commended the donors and thanked Hon. Bah for his efforts in the project.
