Tooley encouraged tourists to come and get first-hand experience of tourism offerings in the province.

"People must just take a ‘short left’ and visit this Eden of Africa and enjoy the tourism products that we offer,” he said.

Parks spokesman Ntlhekeng Kgatla said the events would be preceded by a tourism awareness workshop to be held in Musina on September 16.

He said some of the events lined up in the month include the Vhembe cultural tour on September 22 and 23.

He said the Vhembe district municipality organised the annual tour, which is aimed at introducing the region’s offerings to various role players, both locally and nationally.

“It covers well-known tourism destinations such as Mapungubwe, Kruger National Park, the Noria Mabaso Art Museum, Dzata Ruins, Thathe Vondo Forest and Lake Fundudzi,” said Kgatla.

He added that the province would celebrate World Tourism Day at the University of Venda in Thohoyandou on September 24.
