Discussions also focused on the feasibility study of the project which at a first instance will offer specific and practical training programmes for public officers as well as induction courses for new recruits. In the long run, appropriate linkages with regional centres will be developed with a view to extending the training services to public officers in the region. The delegates also shared with their Mauritian counterparts the scope and intent of the project for which some seven acres of land have been identified at Ebène.
Other members of the delegation were: Mr. Omar Mowlana from the Commonwealth Secretariat and Dr Rinkoo Ghosh from the Civil Service College (CSC) of Singapore.
The implementation of the Civil Service College Project in Mauritius is in line with the Government Programme 2010-2015 in order to keep public officers abreast of modern techniques of management and public administration.
It is to be noted that during a visit in Malta in October last year, the Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms, Mr A. Gungah, had consultations with the Commonwealth Secretariat for the setting up of the Public Service College.
