The existing Programme uses video material delivered to groups of learners through mobile computer-and-projector-stations and depends on educators at participating schools to facilitate the learning delivery. This methodology proved to be successful but, without losing the current momentum, innovation became a critical developmental requirement. Dimension Data therefore requested that various aspects of the program to be “innovated”, ranging from the media, methodology, structure and comprehensiveness of the learning material to the service level of the learning material provider.
After selecting 7 proposals on the basis of “smart technology”, innovation and fit with the client’s requirements from the responses received, the proposals were presented to Dimension Data, who selected 3 companies to make presentations to the panel. Two of the presenting companies (both The Innovation Hub residents) presented complimentary solutions that were in principle accepted by Dimension Data.
Dimension Data selected Trydian Interactive and LUUK Information and Communication Technology to propose, develop and implement a range of sustainable, value-adding solutions for the Programme as a phased roll-out. As a first phase, Trydian will contract with providers of existing Department of Education approved material to licence the material to Dimension Data. The material will be repackaged by Trydian into lesson fit, curriculum based, sequential lesson packages that will be easily usable by the educators. As a second phase, Trydian will provide supportive material to the educators, including the continuous development of interactivity, focus on hard-to-understand principles, measurability and user friendliness. At the same time, LUUK will research, propose and develop alternative delivery mechanisms for the learning content such as mobile and mobile-internet applications to stimulate interest, enhance learning and measure progress.
