What is InnovMed?

The Programme for Innovation in Public Administration in the Euro- Mediterranean Region (InnovMed) seeks to promote good governance and a culture of innovation within the public sector through the dissemi- nation and adaptation of pioneering initiatives in public administration. The Programme is at the service of Governments in the region looking for innovative, effective solutions to concrete problems and challenges.

Set up in mid-2003, the InnovMed Programme covers sixteen countries in the Middle East, North Africa and the Western Balkans, as well as partner countries from Southern Europe. InnovMed is implemented by the Division for Public Administration and Development Management (UNPAN) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA). The Programme is made possible by the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Italy. Key activities are implemented in collaboration with the Formez Training and Study Centre through the Centre for Administrative Innovation in the Euro-Mediterranean Region (CAIMED), based in Naples. InnovMed promotes capacity-building and innovation in public administration and governance through:

BULLET Policy analysis, research and publications;

BULLET Advocacy, policy dialogue, and knowledge-sharing;

BULLET A network of innovators in governance; and

BULLET The transfer and adaptation of innovative approaches through training materials and pilot projects.
