The AGI and APRM Focal Points' Workshop: “The AGI as a governance information tool supporting the APRM”
31 May 2006

The Division for Public Administration and Development Management of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations (DPADM/UNDESA)organized the Africa Governance Inventory (AGI) and African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Focal Points’ Workshop back-to-back with the Sixth Africa Governance Forum (AGF VI) in Kigali, Rwanda on 8 May 2006. The Workshop, focusing on the theme “The AGI as a governance information tool supporting the APRM”, was held at the OCHA Conference Room in the UNDP Compound.

In line with the focus of the AGF VI on “Implementing the African Peer Review Mechanism: Challenges and Opportunities”, the Workshop , which was the first meeting of African government officials in charge of the AGI portal and of the APRM, gathered views on how the AGI could support good governance – the goal of the APRM.

The conclusions of the debate are reflected in a set of recommendations which provide a better understanding of the links between the AGI Portal and the APRM and the future steps to be undertaken to solidify these links.
