Using Knowledge Management in public administration is a new strategic path to perfect performance and to improve internal and external relationships between government organizations. According to Wiig (1999) the viability of any society depends on the quality in supplying public services, and that quality is influenced by many factors: governmental structure, public servants’ responsibilities, specialization and capacities, information, and available knowledge.

Tendrá como objetivo reunir ONGs de derechos humanos, ex presidentes latinoamericanos, activistas de democracia, académicos y otras organizaciones de Latinoamérica, para el intercambio de ideas, visiones y estrategias en torno a los riesgos, retos y recomendaciones para la democracia en la región y el impulso al desarrollo sostenible. Al mismo tiempo, aspira a facilitar la creación y consolidación de una red regional de fortalecimiento y defensa de la democracia

To mark its 60th anniversary, ECLAC will hold a series of special activities throughout the year. One highlight is this high-level seminar featuring renowned sociologist Alain Touraine. This will be followed by two round-table discussions featuring former Presidents Ricardo Lagos (Chile), Fernando Henrique Cardoso (Brazil), José María Figueres (Costa Rica) and Julio María Sanguinetti (Uruguay), and the former Executive Secretaries of ECLAC, Enrique Iglesias, Gert Rosenthal and José Antonio Ocampo. A reception with Michelle Bachelet, President of Chile as the guest of honour, will conclude the event, to be hosted by the Executive Secretary with the presence of the diplomatic corps and national government officials.
