Hungary Adds 18,000 Fixed Broadband Subs in September

The number of fixed-line voice subscriptions in Hungary in September rose by 7,000 to 3.131 million versus August, according to a report from local telecom regulator NMHH. The total number of fixed broadband subscriptions increased to 2.808 million from 2.790 million at the end of August. The number of landline connections dropped to 447,028 from 449,579 in the previous month, the number of voice over cable television connections increased to 984,992  from 974,557, and the number of VoIP connections remained flat at 1.636 million.

T-Home Hungary continues to be first on this segment with a market share of 51.4 percent, ahead of UPC Hungary with 18.4 percent, Invitel with 12.1 percent, Digi with 12.1 percent, Tarr with 1.8 percent, PR-Telekom with 1.3 percent, ViDaNet with 0.8 percent and Parisat with 0.1 percent. Other service providers had a combined market share of 2 percent.

In the broadband market, the DSL base continued to drop, reaching 757,750  from 758,918  at the end of August, while the number of broadband via cable subscribers increased to 1.194 million from 1.186 million.

Of the total number of cable subscribers, 1.068 million were via Docsis 3.0, up from 1.060 million a month earlier. FTTx users continued to grow, reaching 591,796  compared to 581,798 a month ago. The percentage with speeds over 30 Mbps increased by 0.6 percent to 65 percent.

T-Home remains first on this market with a 35.2 percent market share, followed by UPC with 22.1 percent, Digi with 16.2 percent, Invitel with 8.9 percent, Tarr with 2.8 percent, ViDaNet with 2.6 percent, PR-Telekom with 1.8 percent, and Parisat with 0.5 percent. Other service providers' combined market share was 10.1 percent.
